Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick

“The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise them up.” (James 5:15)

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a powerful sign of God’s compassion and healing presence. In this sacrament, Jesus Christ comes close to those who are ill, elderly, facing surgery, or experiencing serious physical or emotional weakness, offering peace, strength, and comfort.

Through the anointing with holy oil and the prayer of the Church, the Lord brings grace that unites the sick person to Christ’s own suffering and resurrection. This sacrament does not only bring spiritual healing, but also strength, courage, and hope in times of trial.
